so where was I..... So I was down another 5lb on April 1st, but still not thrilled with what was happening to my body. I was losing weight, but I wanted more. A few of my pants were fitting a bit loose and I was able to wear a few things that were too tight. I decided it was time to do something even more. I had heard about bootcamp and I knew of a few friends going and liking it, so figured it must be a good thing, right? Someone had told me about one in particular so I looked it up and sent off an email.
April is also the start of baseball season. Happy Happy. G had bought tickets for us to go to the opening Blue Jays game on the 1st. It was great....minus the many many people that got stupid drunk, but I just LOVE going to ball games. The Jays won of course
April 1st was also the day I started taking Maca. This amazing pill that totally and I mean TOTALLY relieved me of all hot flashes and night sweats. So what could be better.....baseball, no more hot flashes....
.......but packing for another cruise! :)
Yes, April for the past few years has seemed to be another cruising month for us, so why break the tradition. After all, the 7th was our 10 wedding anniversary. So on the 6th we flew to FLL and boarded the Emerald Princess on our anniversary for a 10 day cruise! Now at this point of our cruising, it really doesn't matter where we go in the Caribbean and I really can't remember where we went.....other than St. Thomas where we headed to a store that we have visited many times over the past 10 years. There is a jewellery store we go to and we are recognized when we walk in. His name is Kash and he looks after us(me) quite well. So for our 10th Anniversary, G bought me a gorgeous 1 carat blue diamond pendant to match my blue diamond earrings!!!! I really am one lucky lady......
Pretty eh?
During the cruise we also met a wonderful couple. Phyllis and Joe. OMG.... we laughed and laughed and had such a wonderful time with them. It was there 50th anniversary. So we took them out for dinner one night to one of the specialty restaurants, though they thought they were taking us out for dinner LOL.... Lots of memories......lots of laughs.... I look forward to seeing them again.
So I get back from the cruise on my birthday.....and I have gained 6 pounds! Luckily I have done this enough times that I manage to lose it within a week of returning home.
Then, not long after that I had learned that I would be starting bootcamp in May. Oh boy...... ???? Now I had to crash diet to lose what ever I could. LOL
So by May the 1st, I was down to 119lb and about to start bootcamp with at Elena at Nu-u. I was very excited yet nervous. So off I went the first evening, got measured, we went for a walk and then started doing some lunges and a few other things. I swear within the first 15 minutes my legs were like jelly and I still had 45 mintues to go!!!! OH MY....what had I gotten myself into??? I really thought I was going to keel over but somehow had managed to finish and then headed home for a LONG hot bath and some advil. WELL....the next day I was so surprised. Never in my life did I ever dream that I would have so much difficulty just sitting down on the toilet. Did I ever hurt. Two days later I managed to drag myself back to another bootcamp session (G made me go) which seemed to help the aches and pains. After a few more days I was finally able to sit normally again. Whew! Within no time I came to love bootcamp and could not wait to get back to the next one. One major accomplishment was to master "bitch hill". I really don't know if one can master it, but I did manage to run up and down her 4 or 5 times!
I also did a 2 week detox and changed my eating habits. I did my best to follow what Elena (who by the way is one amazing lady) suggested that we do and managed to pretty much carry on without eating anything out of a box, can, no processed foods etc. Of course I did not give up my weekly dinner in Port Dover nor did I give up my wine.
June came along and not too much exciting went on. I continued to run every day and went to bootcamp three times a week. Sooooooo.......
At the end of the 8 weeks we were once again measured and weighed. I had lost 3 more pounds, and are you ready for this????? I LOST 18 INCHES!!!!
to be continued.......

how time flies!!!!
Since the end of December I have thought many many times that I really need to sit and write something. I think about what I want to say....then the end of the day comes and nothing happens. I really wanted to touch base on 2011! It was such a great year for me. So I think I will go back to a year from now and cover it while most if it believe it or not is still somewhat fresh in my head.
January 2011....I had recovered from Christmas 2010....which was kind of hard for me with Alyssa being away for the first time during the holidays. I know it was very difficult for her.
I then committed to running a minimum of 1km/day, every day for the whole year without missing a day. I had such a great time New Years Eve, that my first run was really tough....but I pulled off 3km with quite a hangover.
January is always a good month as it is a cruise month for us. But before that, G had decided that we would fly down to FLL, rent a car and drive to Key West. Well, you certainly can't pick the weather....it was cold! but nevertheless we really enjoyed ourselves. We had to go and buy something a bit warmer to wear. The one and only time I have ever seen G in hoody....and it was only five bucks!
We drove back to FLL & flew home. I had only 4 days to get ready, do the usual packing, and then off for a week on the Crown Princess. We had a great time and made some wonderful new friends and of course I ate and drank way too much.
Upon return I then realized that it was time to make some changes. When I hopped on the scales....I had hit 130lb. YEA YEA...I know. But c'mon, but for someone who weighed under 100lb until the age of 35.....OMG!!!! That was my breaking point! Sooooo.....since my legs and arms had not taken on any of this weight, it was all in my mid section! ugh.
First thing, I knew I had to stop drinking White Zinfandel. Oh how I loved it. I immediately switched to red wine. To go from drinking a fairly sweet wine to red is not easy.....but I did it!! I also started using a program on my IPad and started counting my daily intake of calories......
So for the month of February....that's what I did. And I made myself stay off the scales for the whole month.
I put myself on 1170 calories a day. That's pretty hard to do! Especially when you start adding glasses of wine in there. I quickly learned how much I had to save for the end of the day. Yea, I know.....not the greatest way to try and lose weight, but by the end of the month I had lost 5lb! :) and I was happy with that.
I was also thrilled that I still continued to run every day. It really is a huge commitment!!!!
March was another sort of tough month for me. My daughter Alyssa had been hired on full time with Princess and we were preparing for her to leave for her first full time contract. Should be easy considering her pt was in Alaska and the Caribbean. But no....she was preparing to fly to Thailand to join the Diamond Princess for 6 months. It was hard to handle the thought that my daughter was about to fly almost half way around the world. There were alot of tears but we sent her on her way....over 24 hours with little sleep for me and of course she made it safely to Bangkok. I remember sitting here at 4am waiting and waiting until she came online. Tears just poured down my face when I saw her come on. All was good once I know she was ok. I don't know what I would have done without the internet and facebook to stay in touch.
So through all of this I was somewhat managing to keep myself on the 1170 calories a day. It was hard, but by the end of the month I hopped on the scales and WOW I had lost another 5lb. Down to 120
