11 down and 1 to go!!!!

I had a great feeling as I went for my daily run this afternoon. It was a bit chilly but the sun was shining. I wanted to run at least 5km today but due to the amount of everything I had to accomplish, I opted for my 1 km.

I am thrilled to say that I have now run every day for 11 months....... that would be 334 days in a row since January 1st!!!   I remember back in the beginning of the year how excited I was just to get through the first month of January.  I had an injury at the time that I took on this challenge of run a minimum of 1 km a day, every day for a year and wasn't too sure I would make it. Now here I am!!!  Out of the 334 days, I am very proud to say that only around 15 of the days were done inside on a treadmill.  The rest were all outside....regardless of where I was, what the weather was, or how I was feeling. My most beautiful runs of course I would have to say was when I was in Alaska in August. One could not have more beautiful scenery while out for a run (minus the thought of running into any bears of course) I took this photo while out for an early morning run.

I look forward to the next 31 days. I hope to make my run on December 31 something special.....but that will depend on the day I guess.
I intend to continue running every day for 2012.  It is no longer a task as it was for the first few months of the year. It is now just a part of my every day living.

Finally!!!

I started out this morning thinking I would create a blog just for my upcoming Burpee challenge.....but as the day went on....and on....and on.....and here I am after 10pm still working on this darn thing, I realized that I having many other happenings in my life that I might want to blog about....whether it be about my run a km/day for a year challenge or when I get on a roll every now and then of posting photos of food that I eat or new recipes that I try.
I know I post often on Facebook, but I tend to delete many posts on a regular basis to clean up my wall. Every so often I find myself deleting something by accident.

Today I cooked Turkey dinner for some of the family. Only 5 of the kids were here.....and that was ok. Both Grandkids were here and that's always an extra special treat. This was an early Christmas dinner for Alyssa since she is leaving in a week for Italy to join another ship and will be gone until next May. It was interesting to hear a couple comments from them wondering if this was their actual Christmas dinner. (They never know when we might spring news on them that we will be away). No surprises this time, as much as I would love to go away somewhere hot for Christmas.....we will be here!
